Mom's 65th Birthday Present

I attempted my first machine quilting on mom's birthday present. I will probably never machine quilt on a big project but for little ones like this it worked great!

Each are about 10"x 10" and used bamboo batting which was fantastic!

I found this project in a magazine that I have since lost so I can't give the auther proper credit (if anyone recongnizes this pattern or project please let me know)

I'm making it like an I-spy, there are 2 of each fabric. I have collected from my stash, my mother's, my aunt Shadow's, my grandmothers, my great-grandmother's, my mother-in-law Peg, Peg's friends and my quilting friends.
After I finish each hexi I write the date on the back!

Hee Hee - The pin cushions have gotten out of control!!

Pin Cushions

I found this cool flower pin cushion pattern from the 1997 May/June issue of Quiltmaker! I made one for mom, Peg and Sherry. I'm challenged when I sew anything that is not flat but am always attracted to making things 3D. My friend Mary inspired me to seek this out after finding out at the xmas MG dinner that she collected pin cushions and she gave me the orange one. The purple one is the one I made for Sherry.

The group photo is the Material Girls Quilt Bee (aka the MG's)-my most favorite people in the whole world and the most fabulous quilters! They truly inspire me!

Guitar Hero...

The kids got guitar hero for xmas and it is such a blast!!! Always seem to be just a bit behind in the times when it comes to technology, it is cheaper that way and we don't have to "worry" about finding it!! :-)

I have become soooo obsessed that my fingers, shoulders and arms feel like I did a marathon playing. I have new appreciation of real guitar players...it is quite a workout! Can't wait to invite friends and family to play together.heehee
